1. Introduction
Welcome to Gobez Academy (ጎበዝ አካዳሚ) (“Gobez Academy,” “we,” “our,” “us”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, mobile applications, and related educational services (collectively, the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you (the parent or legal guardian) agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and your child. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Important: Our Service is designed for children under parental supervision. By using the Service, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of any child whose information you provide.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or provide parental consent.
- The Service is intended for children under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or authorized school official.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent, in compliance with COPPA and applicable Ethiopian laws.
3. Account Registration
- Parents/guardians must provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You agree to accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account or your child’s account.
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
4. Parental Consent and COPPA Compliance
- If your child is under 13, you must provide verifiable parental consent before your child can use certain features of the Service (e.g., voice recording, personalized progress tracking).
- You have the right to review your child’s personal information, request deletion, and refuse further collection.
- We do not condition a child’s participation on providing more personal information than is reasonably necessary for the educational activity.
5. License to Use the Service
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for personal, non-commercial, educational purposes only.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.
- Reverse engineer, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of our software.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
6. User Conduct
You and your child agree not to:
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or systems.
- Upload inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content.
- Interfere with the security or proper functioning of the Service.
- Use the Service for commercial purposes without our prior consent.
Violation of these rules may result in immediate termination of your account.
7. Payments and Subscriptions
- Some features of Gobez Academy may be offered on a paid subscription basis.
- All fees are displayed clearly before purchase.
- Payments are processed by secure third-party payment processors. We do not store full payment information.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Refunds are handled according to our refund policy.
8. Intellectual Property
All content on the Service – including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, video clips, software, and educational materials – is the property of Gobez One Member PLC. or its licensors and is protected by Ethiopian and international copyright laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
9. Third-Party Services and Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of those third parties. We encourage parents to review the terms and privacy policies of any external services.
10. Termination and Account Deletion
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or applicable law.
You may request account deletion at any time by following the procedure described in our Privacy Policy (Account Deletion Request). Upon deletion, all learning progress, scores, and personal data will be permanently removed, subject to legal retention requirements (up to 90 days in backup systems, or longer if required by law).
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Ethiopian law, Gobez One Member PLC. and its officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) during the twelve months prior to the claim.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Gobez One Member PLC., its affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising out of your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ethiopia, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through informal negotiation. If unresolved, the dispute shall be submitted to binding arbitration in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in accordance with Ethiopian arbitration laws.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify parents via email or through a notice on the platform.
Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Gobez One Member PLC. regarding your use of the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
Appendix A – Simplified Parent/Guardian Summary
(This summary is for convenience only. The full Terms above remain legally binding.)
Who can use? Parents/guardians (18+) create accounts for their children.
Consent: If your child is under 13, you must give permission before they use voice or personal features.
What you can do: Access educational content, track progress, use speech exercises.
What you cannot do: Share your password, misuse the platform, or try to hack it.
Payments: Some features may cost money. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled.
Data deletion: You can request full account deletion anytime (see Privacy Policy).
Our rights: We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate rules.
No guarantees: We provide the service “as is” but work hard to keep it safe.
Liability limit: We are not liable for indirect damages beyond what you paid us.
Law & disputes: Ethiopian law applies. Disputes first negotiated, then arbitration in Addis Ababa.

Appendix B – Ethiopian Legal Compliance Addendum
In addition to the Terms and Conditions, Gobez Academy (Gobez One Member PLC.) acknowledges the following under Ethiopian law:
1. Data Protection Proclamation (if applicable)
- We process personal data of children only with lawful grounds (parental consent).
- Data subjects (parents) have rights to access, correct, and delete data.
- We act as a data controller and will register with the relevant Ethiopian authority when required.
2. Civil Code of Ethiopia (1960) – Contractual Obligations
- These Terms form a binding agreement under Articles 1675–1800 (obligations and contracts).
- Liability limitations are enforceable unless caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct.
3. Consumer Protection
- Parents are considered consumers. We commit to fair, transparent, and non‑misleading practices.
4. Jurisdiction
- Any legal dispute not resolved by arbitration may be brought before the Federal First Instance Court of Addis Ababa.
By using Gobez Academy, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, including the appendices.
